My first experience with the DNS approach was an introductory course in 2011.  The diagnostic theory and treatment methodology immediately made logical sense to me.  Evaluating the clinical population with a gold-standard that is based upon developmental kinesiology and an ideal stabilization strategy has provided a unique perspective to understanding musculoskeletal pain.

I have been a chiropractor since 1994.  I have always sought out the very best minds.  Professor Kolar has managed to integrate the life’s work of three greatest minds in manual medicine: Vladimir Janda, Vaclav Vojta and Karel Lewit.  His revolutionary information has transformed my understanding of musculoskeletal pain syndromes and has forever changed my treatment approach.  Thank you Pavel and Alena and all of the DNS instructors for such an incredible body of work.  Your classes are always informative, stimulating and thought-provoking.  I highly recommend to anyone who treats the neuromusculoskeletal system, regardless of your professional training, to take a DNS course.

"I started my DNS journey in early 2012 when I attended a private DNS A course in Arizona and having completed the practitioner certification last August (2017). I can say without doubt it has been one of the best investments I have made post graduate, The emphasis on developmental kinesiology, central nervous system development, core stability and motor control is paramount through all the seminars. The instructors at the Prague Rehab School and across the globe are fantastic, they make sure that you are able to apply the DNS principles when you return to clinic to work with patients & athletes. Helping our clients to movement better and more efficient is key to getting long term term results in clinic. I look forward to continuing my journey with the DNS method, improving my application and use of the technique.

I highly recommend the course for any manual therapists & fitness professionals. There is always a small instructor to student ratio and this makes the practical sessions very enjoyable.",

I am so pleased to have completed this accomplishment.  I took my first DNS A course in Oct of 2012 in Chicago. Over the years, learning this method and approach has been one of the best experiences of my personal life and 20-year professional career.  It has my deepened my understanding of human development, postural expression, and movement behavior.  It has made me a better observer of posture and movement; I see things in ways that I never have before.  My skills at facilitating optimal stability and movement through verbal and manual cues have been transformative in addressing longstanding muscle imbalances and poor patterns of movement. The quality of the corrective exercises has tremendously helped my clients maintain their progress and prevent possible pain and reinjury.  Lastly and maybe even more importantly, learning and utilizing the DNS method has made a significant, positive impact on my own physical limitations and health.

Thank you to Pavel, Alena, and all the wonderful instructors of the Prague School!

I hope our paths cross again soon.

With sincere gratitude

I am deeply touched by the knowledge and the kindness and the team and the way they work together!

The clinical knowledge is so developed; in other parts of Europe they are mostly occupied with high-stand technical examination/test and have a great lack of clinical observation!

It is so fantastic that the DNS work is spread in other countries for so many people are in need of this!

Thank you for everything!

Wishing you well,

I want you to know how much I appreciate what you've done for me. I've spent years avoiding doctors who want to treat symptom because they are unable to discover the root cause of my problems. The DNS treatments are unlike anything I've ever experienced. It's a journey of the mind, body, and soul that cannot be described but must be experienced. The process and results are incredibly empowering. My breathing is no longer labored and a series of previous diagnosis which were considered unrelated were proven to be logically connected using the Prague method and most surprisingly, remedied rather quickly. I am pain free after 13 years. I cannot express my gratitude. Life is grand!

Sincerely,

Ornella Peterson

Angela Poczekaj brought her daughter as a demonstration patient to the last DNS seminar held at CMCC, and noted significant improvements to her daughter's development. "When Veronica was six months old, we noticed some physical delays. We tried a number of therapies and sought out numerous opinions. DNS therapy has been the only therapy to show results. I feel comforted that DNS pays attention to making sure that the movements Veronica is learning are being learned properly."

Dr. Peter Lejkowski, a sports fellow and instructor at CMCC, had the opportunity to observe Veronica when she was 18 months old. At that point, she was unable to sit up straight due to her inability to stabilize properly. Over four days, Dr. Lejkowski observed a few treatments where the therapist was able to elicit physiological movement by activating her integrated spinal stabilizing system through various positioning and stimulation methods.

Commenting on what he observed, Lejkowski said, "What shocked me was seeing Veronica for the second time just three and one half months later. Veronica's caretakers continued exercises learned from the therapist, and the most striking difference was her ability to upright her spine, sit up straight without help. She was able to stabilize herself while playing with toys or performing other purposeful phasic movement with her upper extremities.”

Lejkowski believes that DNS is not a technique, but a very comprehensive method of understanding the functions and dysfunctions of the human locomotor system based on developmental kinesiology and modeled from postural ontogenesis. He goes on to say, “The framework it provides at first seems novel yet it is based on decades of highly influential work done by the Prague Rehabilitation Hospital. DNS has the potential to greatly evolve our clinical rehabilitation principles and at the same time grant us the skills to help many more patients of different ages and afflictions."

In partnership with the Prague School of Rehabilitation, CMCC is pleased to offer DNS courses in Toronto

"Pavel's approach to treating conditions by addressing the CNS first and understanding the body's natural adaptive patterns has given me a unique prespective in treating injury pathology.

I have a much greater appreciation of the CNS and human development playing significant role's in the body's postural adaptive patterns. Since having completed his course, I feel like I have implemented a more effective global approach in my treatment plans with the athletes I work with."

For years I have been looking for why "many" back pain patients simply don't get better and what needs to be done to help them. Professor Kolar has developed a comprehensive approach incorporating the theoretical basis for spinal and neuromuscular stability which leads into diagnosis, treatment and prescription home exercises.

The effects are dramatic and can easily be assimilated into osteopathic practice. If you treat babies, children and / or adults then this knowledge will improve your results tenfold.

Professor Pavel Kolar has successfully integrated the work of his predecessors (Karel Lewit, Vaclav Vojta and Vladimir Janda) in proposing the underlying neurodevelopmental mechanism for how the locomotor system develops hand-in-hand with the CNS maturation.  This complex approach is exciting and “cutting-edge” as it provides a window into the complexity and plasticity of the CNS and its effect on the musculoskeletal system and vice-versa.   His courses provide a deeper understanding on the developmental kinesiology and its relationship to functional pathology of the spine and extremities:  its etiology and its treatment using reflex activation of the deep spinal intrinsics to affect the CNS, with resultant improved function in a variety of orthopedic neurologic and cardiopulmonary patients.   I believe this approach forms the basis for many of our current rehabilitation approaches and complements both manual and exercise therapy.

The integration of manual therapy technique with neuromotor control procedures has spawned the development of an intrinsic neuromuscular stabilization system that can improve the function of a wide variety of orthopedic, neurologic, and cardiopulmonary patients.   Professor Pavel Kolar has integrated the work of three leading manual medicine and developmental physicians (Vladimir Janda, Karel Lewit, and Vaclav Vojta) to evolve a manually and functionally based therapeutic system to intrinsically facilitate the deep stabilization muscles of the spine and extremities.  Based on the principles of developmental kinesiology, Dr. Kolar will use patients to demonstrate and teach the manual skills of “reflex locomotion” necessary to efficiently and effectively improve posture, strength, range of motion, endurance and function in a varied population of patients.  Whether you are an orthopedic, manual, neurologic, geriatric, pediatric, cardiopulmonary, or Feldenkrais practitioner, you will clinically benefit your patients with this innovative approach. This work is very exciting, complex and demanding and this is why 5 days are needed

…“Developmental kinesiology has a unique scientific basis and a practical approach to the rehabilitation of both orthopedic and neurological patients. Based upon a system that facilitates the deep stabilizing muscle of the spine and extremities, this therapeutic protocol can modulate pain, spasm and spasticity, improve posture and facilitate efficient human motion. The course by Professor Kolar & his staff is well taught with numerous demonstrations and clinical cases. This is an important concept to apply in clinical practice regardless of your professional training.”

"Participating in courses taught by Professor Pavel Kolar both here in the US and in Prague has been one of the most exciting professional experiences I have had. Even after fourteen years as a physical therapist, I am astonished at the depth of understanding and grasp of the motor system function and dysfunction as it relates to the infant's development that Pavel communicates. The approach is anything but traditional, yet very practical. It is worth every moment of time and energy spent in attending such a course. It opened my eyes to the possibility of speaking to the CNS directly and gaining a more logical understanding of the causes of functional pathology. I highly recommend Professor Kolar’s course.

"The Neurodevelopmental Kinesiology Course taught by DrsPavel Kolar and Alena Kobesova is exciting andoutstanding in content and depth. It is informative, challenging and very hands on.Pavel presents a cutting edge concept of motor control development and it strong relationship to the CNS. He also introduces practical basic skills on assessing and treatingthe deep stabilization system and furthermoreaddresses clinical scenarios we see daily in our practices. I would eagerly recommend this course to any professional who wants to gain greater insight this fascinating field. Last year's Chicago course afforded the opportunity of additional "hands-on" training due to the use of an additional PT to assist. This was invaluable."

“I thought this course was comprehensive with respect to early development and the potential impact to pain & dysfunction later on in life. I even recommended it to several Pediatricians I know. The skills and knowledge learned from Pavel Kolar can apply to physical therapists in all aspects of care from pediatrics to orthopedics to neurologically compromised individiuals. Definitely a great course.”

"Pavel Kolar's evaluation and treatment techniques will not only change the way you practice but will change the way you think. Pavel's courses are invaluable in practice and they will help take your clinical expertise to a whole new level. At the Chicago ’06 course Pavel, Alena Kobesova, MD, and his 2 P.T.s providing an unparalleled supervision making for a “hands-on” experience that was critical in helping you integrate Pavel’s concepts immediately Monday morning.”

”Through very specific positions and stimulation points the patient learn to activate the deep stabilising muscles, enabeling voluntary control to develop before more advanced training is started. When this basic step is lacking failure of rehabilitation is seen. Simply an ingenious technique.

“Last year’s course in Chicago with Pavel Kolar was an exceptional experience for me. Having the opportunity to observe his diagnostic and treatment skills raised the bar of possibility for all of us to truly become experts of the locomotor system.  Then, having so much “hands-on” time with the PT’s allowed me to bring this work into practical application in my office with my average stabilization patients.  I am now able to work more functionally and more quickly than ever before.”

“The 2006 Chicago course was a great learning experience for me. The separation that was created between Pavel and his assistants helped tremendously with the learning process. When Pavel teaching the other group all the attendees were extremely focused on practicing on each other under the supervision of the PTs, rather then to merely observe Pavel’s demonstrations. This was a major breakthrough in the course organization.”

"Each time I learn from Pavel, I walk away with a greater appreciation of human function. While manydoctors and therapists are "technique" based, after studying neuro-developmental-kinesiology with Pavel oneunderstands why the technique works and more importantly why the dysfunction exists. For the modern rehabilitation provider, this is as cutting-edge as it comes. The Chicago program is the best I have been to because the workshops are second to none"

I have been to manymanual therapyand rehabilitation seminars both domestic and abroad, and would rate theChicago seminar with Pavel Kolar as thetop level of training thatI have receivedin the field of manual medicineand musculo-skeletal rehabilitation. Pavel and his staff (MD/PTs) offer an unprecedented educational experience - bringing this new form of global therapy - "reflex locomotion" and integrating it with othersoft-tissue techniques and therapeutic exercises. Lots of "hands-on" training with world-renowned specialists is the key to the success of this seminar. For my patients and the growth of my practice, this has been the missing link!

“The Kolar courses have provided the knowledge and diagnostic observation skills that ties many of the conventional neuromuscular rehabilitative techniques together with a common origin; the development of an infant. Also, it has provide a powerful clinical tool to improved the quality of care to my existing patients and the ability to care for patients that I once could not address. This material will be the future in neuromuscular care!”

Despite the recent interest in active care and rehabilitation, few clinicians truly grasp the theoretical or skill-set cornerstones of these popular ‘catch-word’ strategies, which are based on the topic of habilitation. Professor Kolar provides the foundations of habilitation, absolutely critical information, and associated treatment protocols in his courses. In so doing, he allows us a glimpse of what will heavily impact the future of manual therapeutic techniques and rehabilitation. In short, after observing his approach for 10 years, I now accept the fact that Kolar is the future…

The Developmental Kinesiology theory and Reflex Locomotion technique has provided me with apathway to tap into the patient’s CNS and created a shift in their motor control center. Once the patient, often having failed prior rehab programs, experiences their altered new motor pattern and gain new hope and reason to pursue rehabilitation. It has been the most powerful tool for me in private rehabilitation practice to successfully transition patients from passive care to active care because they can both feel and envision corrected postural, respiratory and gait patterns.

“Kolar’s Reflex Locomotion method is not a stand-alone technique, but provides a rational basis for how I treat chronic and subacute patients, along with manual therapy and exercise rehabilitation.  Even though I am just beginning to learn reflex locomotion, I have been able to treat successfully many challenging cases from the very first week after the course.  … Prior to taking this course, I had been out of practice for most of year due to a chronic illness, and had started back part-time. Also, I relocated my practice 45 minutes away from where I had practiced for 15 years.  I now have a cash practice that regularly has a two-week waiting list, and I credit much of that to what I learned from Professor Kolar. “

My name is Erica De La O.  I am a professional principal ballet dancer.

I have been dancing professionally for over 15 years and am in the middle of my 13th season with the Louisville Ballet.I would say I have dedicated my career to learning to dance from my heart and to understanding movement.  I have several certifications in different theories of exercise and I am also a student of ballet methodology.  Through my network of colleagues in the exercise science of dance I met Dr. Cynthia Butler.  It has been an honor to be under the guidance and care of an incredible therapist who constantly evolves in her profession and with her patients.
Dr. Butler has incorporated reflex locomotion and DNS exercises in my sessions over the past few years and I believe they have been the most effective restoration sessions I have received during my career.  I feel restored, coordinated, and less frustrated physically and functionally.  Without a doubt I maintain my technique and fitness however the elements of reflex locomotion and DNS have allowed a higher understanding of movement and a better ability to move my body.  As much as it is my responsibility to invest physically in my vocation I feel the reflex locomotion supports my efforts and the DNS exercises remind my body without overwhelming analyses.  If I could clone Dr. Butler I would!  I have worked with Dr. Butler on a regular basis for three years, but unfortunately I live in a different state and maybe see her for a restoration session once every few months.  Last summer we worked intensively for three weeks with both hands on therapy as well as the DNS exercises, which made a huge difference.  I definitely have proved that I am at my healthiest when I am receiving reflex locomotion and doing the DNS exercises and feel that DNS has extended my career.  I am a very big fan of DNS and a big thank you to all those who advocate and represent these beautiful ways to work with the body and with people.
